Founded in 1957, the Manipal Institute of Technology is reckoned for its academic excellence in engineering sciences, for shaping world-class engineers and as a center for research and specialized studies in engineering science. Known until 1974 as the Manipal Engineering College, the institute was among the first self-financed colleges of the country.
