About Forestry Research Institute (FRI) :
Established as Imperial Forest Research Institute in 1906, Forest Research Institute (FRI) Dehradun, is a premier institution under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE). Styled in Greeko Roman Architecture by C.G. Blomfield, the main building is a National Heritage which was inaugurated in 1929The Institute’s history is vertually synonymous with the evolution and development of scientific forestry, not only in India, but over the entire Indian sub-continent. Set in a lush green estate spread over 450 hectares, with the outer Himalaya forming its back drop, the Institute’s main building is an impressive edifice, marrying Greco-Roman and Colonial styles of architecture, with a plinth area of 2.5 equipped laboratories,library, herbarium, arboreta, printing press and experimental field areas for conducting forestry research, quite in keeping with the best of its kind anywhere in the world. Its museums, in addition to being a valuable source of scientific information, are a major attraction for tourists.

Eligibility :
B.Sc. with at least one of the subjects – Botany, Zoology, Environment or B.Sc. Forestry or Agriculture or BE Environment Science.

How to Apply :
Admission Procedure   :
The notification for entrance test is published in the selected leading newspapers including the Employment News in the month of January and the test is held in the month of May. Candidates are selected in order of merit on the basis of multiple choice objective type written test held at No. of centres. 15% and 7.5% of the seats are reserved for SC & ST candidates respectively, who fulfill the minimum admission requirements. Foreign National  :
Reservation to the extent of 15% of the prescribed seats on supernumerary basis for Foreign Nationals is made for admission to each of the M.Sc. course available in the Institute provided they have passed the B.Sc. or equivalent qualifying examination from a University outside India and also fulfill the following conditions: (a) that the applications are routed through Indian Council for Cultural Relations / Ministry of Human Resource & Development (Dept. of  Education), Govt. of India, New Delhi
